Recognizing A Present American Dilemma
Did you know that April is Alcohol Awareness Month? Unfortunately, alcohol continues to be a top concern in today’s society. Drinking and driving numbers have only increased, despite all of the available platforms for obtaining a safe ride home.
Yes, DUIs are a major problem of modern day society, but that is only half of the problem! The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) has released statistics over the year that will have you absolutely flabbergasted! Did you know that over 7,000 children under the age of 16 in the United States try their first alcoholic beverage, on a daily basis? And with numbers showing that those who try alcohol before they are 15 years old are more likely to develop alcoholism than those who wait until the legal age of 21 to drink, this is clearly an American problem that must be figured out sooner rather than later.
During the month of April, make an effort to educate others of the importance of educating the youth in their family of abstaining from alcohol until they turn 21 years old. This will give them time to prepare their children and educate them of the realities alcohol poses on their lives, allowing them to make an informed and logical decision.
