It’s the most wonderful time of the year! You’re probably ready to spread that cheer throughout your home with holiday decorations. Before you start decking the halls, read through these holiday safety tips to keep your season merry and bright – in the right ways!
- Candle Caution: Candles are a great way to add ambiance. They’re also a great way to add fire hazard to your home. Keep candles well away from flammable materials (including your tree!) and on high enough surfaces that kids and pets can’t reach them.
- Tree Talk: Your tree shouldn’t be a big piece of kindling sitting in your home, and it won’t be if you choose a fresh one. Look for a tree with fresh green needles that don’t break when bent and resist being pulled off the tree.
- Light Look: Before you string up any lights, check the strands for frayed wires or broken bulbs. When you do hang them, make sure their securely affixed and never string more than three strands together to avoid electrical hazards.
