Veterans Day is on November 11th, use this day to honor our American heroes.
Veterans Day is a special holiday during which we honor the veterans who fought in all past and present wars. On this day, take the time to remember those American heroes who gave their lives defending our country. You should also make an effort to show surviving veterans how much their brave sacrifices mean to you. Here are some ways that you can honor our veterans this year.
1) Support Businesses that Support Our Military
Many businesses offer special deals or promotions for veterans or donate a portion of their proceeds to veteran organizations. Do your part by supporting these businesses so they can continue to do their charity.
2) Thank a Vet
Reach out to the veteran community and simply thank them for all that they’ve done. Reach out to family and friends that have served or even thank a stranger on the street. On this day, every veteran deserves to know that we care.
3) Send Your Love
Make a care package to send to someone stationed overseas. Even if you don’t personally know anyone, there are many organizations that will gladly accept your contributions. You can even get your family and friends involved by hosting a care package making party.
4) Visit a Veterans Hospital
Another way to show a veteran you care is by visiting a local VA hospital. Many older and injured veterans do not receive regular visitors, so the gift of company and conversation will brighten their day. Additionally, you will likely get to hear fascinating stories about their time in the service.
5) Host a Fundraiser
Finally, another great way to celebrate Veterans Day is by hosting a fundraiser. Encourage members of your community to come out and show their support. Donate all your proceeds to legitimate veteran support organizations.
