Moving Around More Is Good for Your Overall Health

Being active wherever you are may prolong your life and increase your health.

Physical activity can help you live a healthier and longer life. Many people often give the excuse of “not having time,” or “not having a gym membership,” which, at the end of the day, are just excuses. You don’t need a gym or costly equipment to be physically active. No matter where you work, or go to school, you can find ways to be active and sit less throughout your day. Here are ways in which you can increase your physical activity and stay active

Standing Desk

Recent studies have shown that sitting can have negative effects on your body and health. But how are you supposed to not sit when your computer is at sitting-level on your desk. The answer is as simple as adding the word standing to desk. A standing desk allows you to stand while you work. It may be difficult at first, but you’ll soon find you can stand for the whole day if you want.

Taking Walks

Taking walks around your building every day could be that start of an office health revolution. It only takes a few people to get others to do the same. By walking, you are telling your body and legs that it is not the time for sleep, it’s time for work.

Use the Stairs

We’re not advocating your climb 100 flights of stairs (unless you’re up for the challenge), but taking the stairs every day will increase your activity and strengthen your legs. Also, parking far away from your entrance will give you more opportunity to walk.

The benefits of being active are evident, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with its own risk. To be insured against any problems that may arise, contact VGW Walker Insurance for all of your Texas health insurance needs.
